In the winter of 2020, I noticed one of my toenails was not like the others. I had severely stubbed my right big toe that Fall and apparently broke the nail far under the skin. Well, 2020 wasn't a good year for anyone on the planet and I chose to put a sock on and ignore my toe. It didn't really hurt, and I didn't want to deal with it. By Spring of 2021, my entire toenail was compromised and sticking my head in the sand was no longer an option. After searching pictures and information online, and consulting with my doctor, it was confirmed as the dreaded toenail fungus.
The oral medication that can be prescribed for this condition is not an option for me - it is highly toxic to the liver and after a year of chemo between 2015-2016 I didn't want to risk any further liver damage from medications. So, I did some online research and found the Global Nail Fungus Organization website (yes, there is such a site) and I tried literally everything suggested (i.e., apple cider vinegar foot baths, Epsom salts and hydrogen peroxide soaks and lastly, over the counter chemical liquids). None of these worked to eliminate the infection and the chemical treatment stung upon application and then my toe itched. This was not acceptable, in my opinion, so I set out on a search for a natural treatment. More information on my search is outlined under the research tab.
Skip to almost three years later, and, voila - Farewell Fungus, LLC is born. I make the salve in small batches throughout the week and hope to be able to share this natural treatment option with as many people as I am able to make salve for.
